Hair is a Beautiful thing…

Or it should be, was my thought at 14 years old watching people walk down the street. I couldn’t help myself to think how I could improve their style to help them look and feel their best.

 

Just a thought turned into a life changing career that I have loved for over 30 years. I was 16 years old when I started my trade and it wasn’t easy back in the day. They didn’t offer apprenticeships to work under a senior stylist so you could learn with their help. Instead they threw you behind a chair after you got your license and told you to figure it out. It took about 15 years to feel comfortable by trial, error and many classes.

 

I've worked at a few salons during my hairstyling years. Sears Salon was the first then Backstage, Split Ends Windsor Park, Skala Hair Studio and finally but not least Nirvana Salon. It’s been a challenge for me since opening Nirvana, I have learnt a lot and have changed directions a couple times with much more to come. My biggest accomplishment is to have stylists join our team and become more of themselves within their craft. Being part of building stylists to become the best they can be through my hairstyling expiriences and giving them the opportunity to learn with many classes and great products at their disposal. The stylist I work with today are very talented and I’m honoured to have them on my team.
